Salman Khan Finally Addresses Rumoured Feud with Arijit Singh
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has finally spoken up about one of the most talked-about controversies in the industry — his alleged fallout with singer Arijit Singh. During the recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19, the actor clarified that there was never any genuine conflict between them, and that the misunderstanding had originated from his side.
Salman Khan Clears the Air on Long-Standing Rift
In a frank chat with comedian Ravi Gupta on the show, Salman chuckled at the comparisons drawn between Gupta and Arijit, before offering clarity on the issue. He stated, “Arijit aur main bahut acche dost hai. Jo misunderstanding thi, meri side se thi. Uske baad usne gaane bhi kiye mere liye. Tiger 3 mein kiya tha, ab Galwan mein kar raha hai.” (“Arijit and I are very good friends. The misunderstanding was from my side. After that, he even sang songs for me — in Tiger 3 and now for Galwan.”)
The 2014 Awards Night Incident
The roots of the feud go back to the Star Guild Awards 2014, where Salman was the host and Arijit came on stage to receive an award for his hit track Tum Hi Ho. Dressed casually and appearing fatigued, Arijit greeted the hosts when Salman jokingly asked, “So gaye the?” Arijit responded with humour, saying, “Aap logon ne sula diya yaar.”
Although the audience laughed, reports indicated that Salman may have perceived the comment as disrespectful. Following this, rumours circulated that Arijit’s songs were removed from multiple Salman films, including Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Sultan. Most notably, the soulful track Jag Ghoomeya from Sultan was sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan instead of Arijit.
Arijit Singh’s Public Apology
As speculation intensified, Arijit Singh publicly apologized to Salman in 2016 through a Facebook post. In the now-deleted message, he wrote, “Dear Mr Salman Khan, I have been trying to tell you that I never meant to insult you. That night was just bad timing. I am extremely sorry about it. Please don’t remove my voice from your film; I have sung it keeping your persona in mind.” Despite the heartfelt plea, neither of them spoke publicly about it — until now.
