According to the latest update by RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan, Virat Kohli, the long-standing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) icon, has declined a contract that was expected to be signed, referring to the IPL 2026. This move has sparked concerns regarding his future plans with the RCB franchise.
Kohli is expected to return to action during the India tour of Australia for a 3-match ODI series. However, his last appearance with the bat was in IPL 2025, where he finished as the third-highest run-scorer of the season for Royal Challengers.
“Virat Kohli was supposed to renew a contract with a brand. However, reports suggest he has opted not to renew it. The speculation now is that Kohli wants RCB to prepare for the future without relying on his image,” a source revealed. It is also likely that he won’t continue much longer once he retires from ODIs for the national team.
As a cornerstone of the RCB franchise since the inception of the IPL in 2008, Kohli has featured in every season and finally ended his title drought with RCB in IPL 2025.
